Accreditations

EQUIS

EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) is the leading international system for the assessment of teaching quality and study conditions at business schools. It is awarded to the best business schools by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).

Around 200 business schools across the world, including 105 in Europe, have earned the prestigious accreditation, such as the London Business School, INSEAD in France, or the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.

As we can read on EFMD Global’s website, EQUIS is the most comprehensive institutional accreditation system for business and management schools. It is acknowledged worldwide by students, faculty, employers, corporate clients and the media, often being a pre-requisite for entry to rankings. Quality benchmark in ten areas, EQUIS accreditation ensures a rigorous quality control, benchmarking a school against international standards in terms of governance, programmes, students, faculty, research, internationalisation, ethics, responsibility and sustainability, as well as engagement with the world of practice.

With its broad assessment scope, EQUIS covers all the activities of a school, including degree and non-degree programmes, as well as doctoral teaching programmes, knowledge generation and contribution to the community. EQUIS helps strive for excellence in an on-going improvement process following each accreditation or re-accreditation visit. EQUIS considers the great diversity of national cultures and educational systems around the world. It recognises that it is essential to understand the particularities of the local context in every assessment process.

AMBA

The Association of Masters in Business Administration (AMBA) confirms the highest quality of educational services among MBA programs. Accreditation is issued by Association of MBAs. An AMBA evaluation considers factors such as facility, programs, staff qualifications, and student achievements.

AMBA has already given its accreditation to 240 schools in 70 countries. In Poland only six universities have it. Only 2% of the business schools in the world are distinct enough to claim the AMBA accreditation.

BSIS IMPACT

In July 2022 SGH has been awarded by EFMD Global and FNEGE the Business School Impact System Label for its successful completion of the BSIS Impact enhancement process and for its on-going commitment to a development plan in 2022.

POLISH ACCREDITATION COMMITTEE (PKA)

The Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) was established by the act of 20th July 2001, amending the existing Higher Education Act as legal body working for the quality of education, defined its tasks and its working procedure. All higher schools in Poland acting on the basis of the Law on Higher Education are supervised by the Committee’s activities. The Polish Accreditation Committee carries out its mission by conducting obligatory assessments of the quality of education and giving opinions on applications for the authorisation to provide degree programmes submitted by higher education institutions.

The Polish Accreditation Committee is an independent institution working within the higher education system in Poland for the improvement in the quality of education. The primary objective of the Committee is to support Polish public and non-public higher education institutions in the development of educational standards matching the best models adopted in the European and global academic space. These activities aim to ensure that graduates of Polish higher education institutions rank high on the national and international labour market, and to enhance the competitiveness of Polish higher education institutions as European institutions.

CEEMAN

CEEMAN is an international management development association established in 1993 with the aim of accelerating the growth in quality of management development in central and eastern Europe. Now it is a global network of management development institutions interested in quality of education and innovations in this field, as well as in the broad area of subjects related to change.

In 1998, the membership of CEEMAN lent its official support to the concept of creating a quality assurance and continuous improvement scheme for its members. The outcome was the establishment of the International Quality Accreditation (IQA), which was specifically designed to address the needs of business schools and other management development institutions operating in dynamically changing environments of Central and Eastern Europe.

IQA was first awarded to SGH 7 years ago – in 2011 – for a three-year-long period, and then prolonged until 2017. The current accreditation is valid until 1 February 2024.

IPMA-STUDENT

IPMA-Student is a comprehensive system for certifying project management knowledge and skills acquired during a degree programme. It is addressed to students and graduates of full-time, extramural and post-MA study programmes.

Under the programme, selected universities work with the Polish branch of the International Project Management Association (IPMA), an international organisation that brings together project management experts, practitioners and researchers.

It is the first certification programme of its kind in Poland addressed to students and study participants which does not require any previous project management experience. The purpose is to certify that the participants have acquired knowledge and skills in selected project management issues at the level required for a project team member. SGH has been an institutional partner of IPMA since 2014.
